Located just a few meters from The State Stud Farm known for famous Lipizzan horses, this is the place to eat when visiting Đakovo. We called in advance just for info and luckily caught a spot on the terrace. A fireplace for peka and carp between branches add a warm touch to this restaurant.

It seemed that waiter wasn’t too interested in us so we had to go and ask can we get menus. But, later we got excellent attention.

The menu is a bit overloaded and shuffling between traditional and classic dishes is not doing a favor to this rustic atmosphere. One side with a fish and venison stews, river fish while the other offers classic grill and calamari meals. Makes us sad.

We ordered pike-perch orly style and grilled chicken skewers wrapped in homemade bacon with potato and swiss chard as a side dish.

With advertising as a restaurant/wine shop, the wine list is quite unimpressive. White wines – Đakovačka vina graševina and Gewürztraminer by the glass. We weren’t into red wines, but Feravino frankovka is a good choice. Just a few premium wines on the list don’t do Slavonian wines a favor. On the other hand, poking us right in the eye, there was Ivan Dolac, wine from Hvar. Not that Ivan Dolac plavac mali isn’t great wine, but Slavonia offers beautiful rich red wines that should have their place on this wine list, and would probably accompany the food much better.

We went for graševina by Đakovačka vina to taste a local winery. We failed miserably. The wrong choice, this graševina is an underestimation of this excellent wine variety. Just for the note, Misna vina and Apostol are from Đakovo and offer great wines!
