Word from the owner
We opened Paradox Wine & Cheese Bar in June 2012 in Split, Croatia as the first wine bar in the city. Our mission was to proudly present the diversity and quality of Dalmatian and Croatian wines to local and foreign guests in a pleasant environment with staff being the ambassadors of hospitality and promoters of wine culture. I believe we are the only venue across Croatia that have such a concentration of staff who hold formal wine qualifications.
Paradox Wine & Cheese Bar offers the biggest selection of artisan cheeses in Croatia and features more than 100 wine labels, of which at least 50 are available by the glass. We are proud to have been mentioned in numerous national and international publications, and we quickly became synonymous for our high service levels and are recognized as the pioneers of wine culture in the city.
The intimate and cosy interiors are characterized by custom-designed elm and oak furniture set against exposed old stonewalls, matched shaded terrace, providing front row seats to life passing by. The name, Paradox, was inspired by the fact that a region so rich in its winemaking traditions had no wine bar, quite a paradox right?
