Zagreb's first and only cheese bar has a great central location, but the interior is far from what you'd expect, much more suitable for a pretentious yuppie lounge bar. Sipping wine and nibbling on excellent cheeses deserves a much more quiet, warm and pleasant setting. On the other hand, the selection of Croatian cheeses is excellent, covering various types. Cow's milk, goat's milk, sheep's milk, smoked, young, aged, combined with truffles or chili peppers... The choice is not mind-bogglingly big, but it's all relevant stuff from top-quality small producers. All platters are accompanied by homemade bread, olives, tomatoes, nuts, pickled button mushrooms, very good olive or pumpkin seed oil... The wine list is equally elaborate and versatile: not too big, but enough to satisfy even the most demanding wine geeks. And best of all, prices are unbelievably fair. Manager Dado is friendly and eager to please, and can be quite talkative if you get him going about cheese.
