Aleš Winkler is a somewhat unusual guy. How many people do you know who used to live in a city, work as a real-estate agent, and then suddenly decided they wanted to live in the country and raise goats? And that is exactly what he did. Together with his family he moved from Ljubljana in Slovenia to a farm in the middle of nowhere, in Istria.
They turned their life completely upside down, renovated the ruinous estate in a pretty cool way, and bought goats. Then they learned everything they could about cheese production and started playing with various combinations in order to get the one they like. Today they make some really fine stuff.
It is their lifestyle that fascinates us. Their farm is like a refugee, the craziest and the calmest place at the same time. Music is always playing very loud all over the yard, animals are running around, and you somehow feel at home.
There’s a whole lot you can do there, but the best option is to just relax, enjoy some goat cheese, wine and good company. And life is somehow good.
